Malcolm L. MacGregor is a Founding Partner in the law firm of McDonald & MacGregor, LLC, in Scranton. Malcolm offers more than 35 years of experience in the trial and settlement of significant personal injury cases, helping to put the lives of victims of injury back together. A graduate of his hometown University of Scranton, Attorney MacGregor earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications in 1986. He went on to complete his legal studies earning his Juris Doctorate from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, in Washington, D.C., in 1989.
Attorney MacGregor has successfully obtained numerous seven-figure verdicts and settlements on behalf of victims of injury throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania, including medical negligence settlements of 7.4 Million (Birth Trauma), 7 Million (Birth Trauma), 6.5 Million (Anesthesia), 4.5 Million (Brain Injury), 2.25 Million (Amputation), 1.6 Million (ER Negligence), 1.25 Million (Failure to Diagnose Cancer), 1.25 Million (Partial Loss of Vision), 1.2 Million (Retained Surgical Material). Mal is particularly proud of obtaining these significant, hard-fought recoveries while maintaining a family, small firm atmosphere for team members and clients alike.
Attorney MacGregor and his Partner, Michael McDonald, obtained a 5.4 Million verdict in a Wrongful Death, Failure to Diagnose Breast Cancer lawsuit, which remains the highest verdict ever obtained in a medical malpractice case in Monroe County and was one of the highest verdicts obtained in a medical malpractice case in Pennsylvania that year. Irrespective of the size of the case, Attorney MacGregor prides himself on providing compassionate, smart, and dedicated legal service to those he is honored to represent.
In addition to his active law practice and in recognition of our responsibility to our Trial bar, Attorney MacGregor has shared his experience and knowledge with others in the legal community through a series of seminars, presentations and publications for fellow attorneys and those in litigation related fields on behalf of The Pennsylvania Association for Justice, The Pennsylvania Bar Association, The Lackawanna Bar Association, The Northeastern Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association and The former Committee for Justice for All of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
An active member of our regional legal community including the Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe and Pennsylvania Bar Associations, Mr. MacGregor is also an Invitee, Million Dollar Advocates Forum, for Attorneys Settling Cases in Excess of One Million Dollars, recognized by Best Lawyers for his professional skills, member Inductee, Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers and has been recognized as a “Pennsylvania Super Lawyer” by Law & Politics/Philadelphia Magazine.
Attorney MacGregor was elected President of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, which is the leading voice for trial attorneys in the state of Pennsylvania. He is one of only five attorneys from Northeastern Pennsylvania to be tapped to serve in the more than half century history of the organization.
Malcolm was also elected as Past President of the Lackawanna Bar Association by the lawyers he has practiced with throughout his career, something he considers to be a great honor and an acknowledgement of his legal acumen and leadership skills.
Attorney MacGregor has also served as the Chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Civil Litigation Council, Past President of the Federal Bar Association’s Middle District Chapter, and a court appointee to the Lawyer Advisory Committee of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
Malcolm believes in public service and has counseled local Townships where he lives and has raised his family in Glenburn, North Abington, and Waverly Townships as Solicitor, as well as Clarks Summit Borough. Mr. MacGregor has served as a long-time Lector for his local parish, Our Lady of Snows, Church of St. Benedict and St. Gregory’s.
